Hair Stress

Source
I am definitely not feeling my hair right now…I don’t know if it’s a phase or what’s going on but its real “blah” lately.  Don’t worry, the relaxer will never find its way back to my curls and coils, it’s not THAT serious.  However, I am toying with the idea of getting a weave.  **Gasp**

(PYT) Pretty Young Thing - Natural Feature Lucky Magazine

Got my issue of Lucky Magazine in the mail the other day.  I am a long time subscriber and love this publication!  They do a “Lucky Girl” feature every month and the May feature is a lovely natural from the N-Y, Natalie !  She opens her closet for Lucky readers and shows off her personal sense of style.

Day 2, Day 3 and Day 7 are my faves!
  • Day 2 – I love the idea of placing a shirt over a dress and treating it almost like a skirt.  Looks comfy and the belt is the glue of the outfit.
  • Day 3 – More layering which I simply love!  The beanie is adorable but I especially like coat.  I have a thing for camel!
  • Day 7 – This simple but cute look is pretty similar to my style on most days.  I love layers, skinny legged pants and boots.  Since the outfit is mostly solids, the peacock earrings give it that something extra.

You Know You Need A Trim If.....

For most naturals whose goal is to achieve length, trimming is a huge question mark!  How often do I trim?  How do I know if I need a trim?  Can I do a self trim?  How much do I trim?  This is a particularly tough subject for me.  I’m that chic that has it out with her stylist every time she wants to trim my hair.  I’m like a little kid being dragged kicking and screaming to the chair!  I hate trims.  I view them as a necessary evil.  I’m just not too sure I believe it must be done on a schedule.  Some say you need a trim every 8 weeks, others say trim as needed.  Well how do you know when it’s needed?

Weekend Hair Plans - Braid Out

Today I am still wearing my twist out from earlier this week.  Still looking alright but I fear that my curls may end up as locs if I don’t do something to them soon!

The Master Plan
Late tonight  (I have a long day ahead of me) I will shampoo, condition and deep condition.  I will either sit under the dryer for 30 minutes with a plastic cap with the deep conditioner or I will leave it in over night.  I haven’t decided on that yet, whichever time permits.

After rinsing and a major detangling session, I will then braid my hair in preparation for a braid out – nothing new right?  Well, typically I do a braid out with just 4 gynormous braids to achieve my BIG hair, but this time, I plan on doing 20 – 25 braids.  Wish me luck and check out this braid out tutorial from the lovely MopTop.  Her hair is so gorgeous!  It may inspire you to try this look over the weekend!  Speaking of Mop Top, keep her in your prayers and wish her a speedy recovery.

Enjoy!

Still Wired

I was and still am a huge fan of HBO’s The Wire!  I have all the seasons on DVD and was so bothered when it came to an end.  The rawness, the realness, the writing was just so top of the line.  I could go on and on about the show because I really miss the quality content!  The talented actors are still working and continually showing up everywhere.  The lovely Sonja Sohn who played Detective Greggs – talk about gorgeous hair!
