I shampooed, did a protein treatment and an emergence treatment. It had been 2 weeks since I’d done anything to it – huge mistake of course. My hair was a complete wild matted mess! It looked good but I knew once I got up in there towards my scalp, it would be all downhill. I started out dry detangling with my fingers with olive oil, putting my hair into 6 loose sections as I went along.
I jumped in the shower and grabbed the Elucence Moisture Benefits Shampoo. My 2nd time using it so I will give a review after multiple uses. So far so good but it does have parabens. Considering parabens are the reason I’m on a shampoo scavenger hunt already, I’m pretty disappointed I didn’t notice this before purchasing several bottles. Anyway, I digress. I gently kneaded my scalp with my knuckles, being careful not to scrub my ends. After I cleansed each section one at a time, I rinsed and added my Aubrey Organics Island Naturals Conditioner, which by the way, I tried a new scent this time and it’s a thumbs down for me. The scent is not pleasant at all. I can’t think of what the smell reminds me of. When I think of I’ll put it in a review. *Note to self – stick with the Honey Suckle Rose.*
Anywho, after a few minutes of allowing that to sit, I rinsed and added my Jessi Curl Deep Conditioner in a bottle. Yes, I said bottle. Remember I told you JessiCurl revamped the look of the bottle and their logo? Well I’m happy they did. The bottle is much easier to dispense, although I admit, it would not have made a difference to me if they put it in a tube, that product is everything and I will use it no matter what! I proceeded to shower, rinse off and get out of the shower, placed a plastic cap on my head and did some things around the house.
30-45 minutes later I rinsed it out and my hair did not feel as soft as it normally does. I’m not sure what that’s about but it just didn’t. In fact, as I added my Kinky Curly Knot Today, I found myself having to use a tad more than usual. Something’s up. From there I separated my hair into 6 sections and began to grab and twist in no strategic manner, adding rods to the ends, using Lustrasilk Curl Max Curl Pudding. I received a few of their products in the mail (5 to be exact) and decided to go ahead and start using the cream first. Keep an eye out for those reviews as well.
The next morning when I took my hair down, it was super ugly. It was dry and just didn’t feel well. I did a very loose, low bun and headed to work. It was cute enough to get me through the day. So last night I thought, let me retwist my hair again, this time being a little more mindful of the way I twist. I did about 9 twists this time but no rollers and I added a small amount of product to each section. This morning when I took them down, adorb! I was shocked because I had already anticipated bunning it again! It was soft and no frizz! It did leave a weird feeling on my fingers and it feels a tad heavy but my hair is full of bounce and I really like it. You know how I feel about twist outs on me so I am super surprised.
More on this product after a few more uses. I hate to form a definitive opinion based on one or two uses.
I am going to delve into the ingredients next for a full review. Part 2 coming soon!
Please note: this was written in February so I am a little behind on my reviews. I apologize.
