2011 Hair Resolutions

Remember those goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the year?  – Those are resolutions.
January has almost come to an end and I’m wondering, how many people are sticking to those goals?

What New Year’s Hair Resolution did you make and not keep?  What promise did you make to your hair and have already ditched it before the month of January is even over?   Mine is I promised to deep condition once a week.  I have been lucky to get it in every other week!

How to get yourself back on track:

  1. Reassess the Goal
Was the goal obtainable?  Don’t set yourself up for failure.  Many times we get anxious and hyped about the new year and that’s ok.  It’s great to think big – you know, go big or go home.  However, the goals you set should be long term, achievable goals.  For example, don’t say you are going to deep condition every Saturday morning when you know you are committed  to taking  your son to football practice every Saturday.  Instead  - make the goal once per month and you will find it easier to do, thus, easier to increase the frequency.

  1. Remember your natural hair is part of your lifestyle.
Not only do you need to set a goal, but you need to have a plan on how to maintain the goal.  Did you do that when you made this resolution?  Did you determine what was necessary to achieve the goal?  If not, do that now.

  1. Share your resolution goal
Don’t keep it a secret!  Once you verbalize the commitment, you will be more accountable for your actions.  It’s also a great way to gain support.  You will find it much easier to achieve results when you have an encouraging friend in your corner.

Good Luck!
